Why we publish ranges, not a single price
Pricing a heating, cooling, or plumbing job sight-unseen isn't honest. The numbers here are broad industry reference ranges so you can plan and avoid sticker shock — but your actual price comes from a real look at your home.
If you've ever seen a website spit out an "instant price," it's a guess designed to get your phone number. We explain exactly why no online tool can do this in why AI doesn't know your price.
What moves the price the most
Two homes on the same street can land at different numbers — for good reasons. The biggest factors:
- Correctly-sized capacity for your home, set by a load calculation — not a guess from square footage.
- The efficiency tier you choose (a higher-SEER2 system costs more up front but less to run).
- The condition of your existing ductwork, refrigerant lines, and electrical.
- How easy the equipment is to access — attic, closet, rooftop, or a tight side yard.
- Permit and code requirements in Brevard County, which we pull and handle for you.

Air conditioning & heat pump costs
In Florida, a heat pump and a central AC are nearly the same system for cost purposes — a heat pump just adds a heating mode, so it typically runs a little higher. Use these as estimated planning ranges for the Space Coast, not Anna's exact quote.
| Scenario | Typical range* |
|---|---|
| Minor repair (capacitor, contactor) | ~$150–$600 |
| Mid repair (fan motor, refrigerant leak) | ~$600–$1,500 |
| Major repair (compressor, coil) | ~$1,500–$3,000+ |
| New central AC system, installed | ~$5,000–$12,000+ (by size/SEER2) |
| New heat pump system, installed | ~$6,000–$14,000 (by size/SEER2) |

Water heater costs
Cost depends mostly on the type you choose and your home's existing setup. In general terms:
- Standard tank — the lowest upfront cost and the most common replacement; a shorter lifespan than tankless. Estimated ~$1,500–$3,500 installed.
- Tankless (on-demand) — a higher upfront cost that can be offset by a longer lifespan and heating water only when you use it. Estimated ~$3,000–$6,500+ installed.
